For Physical BF1942 CD users:
Recently Microsoft has released an update which disables Safe disc feature of Windows. For that reason, physical BF1942 cd users' game won't work. (Blackscreen upon starting). Here is the Fix for them:

A stuntie..INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the website and our community!

BF-League.eu community is dedicated to fighting in the so called Clan Wars in which teams (clans) fight each other to prove who the best is in World War II First Person shooter game, Battlefield 1942. (Released in 2003)

BF-League has been active since 01.02.2007, however, the website has been moved and remade several times.

If you have any sort of questions related to anything of this League (Wars, rules, problems, technical problems etc.) feel free to create threads in the Forum, or write in our chatbox.

1.BASIC THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT? HOW TO JOIN A CLAN? AND WHO IS A RINGER?

Registering to this website is required. You can find the "register" button at "login" in the right side of the page.

You will need to give the following information:

-Name
-Username
-E-mail
-Password
-Verify Password

-Enter the nearby Captcha (Security code)

Once you have done that, you have to log in to your E-mail account and activate your profile from there. (Auto E-mail tells you what to do)

____________________________________________

Basic knowledge of English is required to be able to understand the majority of the community.
Of course, You can use your own language for any sort of things.

You can introduce yourself and apply for a clan here.
Please post a new topic and create only one. If you accidentally create a 2nd topic, it will be deleted.

To officially join a League clan, you must contact them first via GSC, Facebook, League forum etc. then apply for a clan in the league site. To do that, you need to find the clan in your "Clan profile" in your "User Menu" which is on the right of the site. Once you have found the clan, you can send a request to join that clan. The leader or coleaders of the clan must accept that. But It is not over with this, since you will be required to send your keyhash to the team, so that they can collect and send them to the League admins.

THE KEYHASHLISTS WILL BE IN THE TEAMLEADER FORUM SECTION, IT MEANS THAT ONLY TEAMLEADERS AND BF-LEAGUE ADMINS CAN VIEW, POST OR EDIT THEM THERE! SO EVERY CLAN LEADER (ADMIN) HAS TO POST AND EDIT THEM THERE! IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT A TEAMLEADER (WHO IS NOT AN ADMIN) MAKES THE POST FIRST, NOT A LEAGUE ADMIN OTHERWISE, ONLY LEAGUE ADMINS CAN EDIT IT! ONCE THE TEAMLEADERS (WHO ARE NOT ADMINS) MADE THEIR FIRST POSTS, LATER ON A LEAGUE ADMIN CAN BE ASKED TO EDIT THE LISTS AS WELL. WITH THIS METHOD, BOTH TEAMLEADERS (WHO AREN'T ADMINS) AND LEAGUE ADMINS CAN EDIT THE KEYHASHES!

Keyhashes (hexadecimal numbers) are generated from the cd keys or Product code / serial, which you will give when you are installing the game. This topic (The last post) explains how to get your keyhash, but currently the most simple solution is that you join the server of your new clan and the team/admin which has admin access to that server, gets your keyhash from there. Once Again, origin bf1942 versions won't work.

1. Find Clan Profile. 2. Click on Join Clan. 3. Select the clan you want to join, then "Join a Clan".

4. You can cancel the request (if you changed your mind), or send it again if something goes wrong. However, normally at this point you only have to wait for getting accepted or not.

Regarding rules and information with our competition, the important content is detailed in BF-League Rules so please read them time to time or ask your first / new clan to summarize them and tell you.

Your new clan - especially leaders and coleaders - will also instruct you properly to become a member according to our rules and their rules.

Some clans may ask you to register their site and follow the war schedule there, sign up for wars etc.

If you have any technical problems feel free to ask League admins or any players.

RINGER is a registered BF-League player who is in a clan (officially in its clan roster), but for the time of a clan war, he helps out a different team. If the player is officially in team A, and team A plays vs team B, the player can also ring to team B, if team A, his clan agrees.

There can be many reasons, the most common: The clan he is helping doesn't have enough players for that day.

A new player - who is playing for example pcws for clans as a start, then later joins the one which he wants to - is commonly regarded as new player to keep it simple. But he is not a ringer.

Attention for those who are coming from Simple or AX communities: Our rules don't correspond with the rules of those communities 100%! While there is a big similarity, some rules are not the same. (For example, gameplay regarding naval rules and especially the Simple HUD mod / blood mod - these 2 mods are forbidden in our league!) So please read our rules carefully, or ask the League community if you don't understand something! We have informed Simple and AX communities to mark the League rules related to these mods at their downloads, and warn their members / players!

2.WHAT IS THIS COMPETITION? TIME OF CLAN WARS? WHEN DOES A LEAGUE SEASON START AND LAST?

The structure of this league is complex, but we tried to summarize it up:

The main structure of this league is complex, but we tried to summarize it up:

- Team Competition - Clan or Team A vs Clan or Team B and the rest, so every clans play against each other once in a season.
- The League table is a bit similar to a Football table, however there are lots of differences.
- Clan "A" has their own Clan A BF1942 Server called Home/War server, same for Clan "B" and the rest of the clans. If there are more servers of team A, they decide which one they want to use as homeserver.
- Not just classical maps are played, but custom maps (+fixed maps). If someone makes a map, it can be presented, and the community decides about it. Map fixing (to make the map suit better for gameplay) is often done.
- Any new War servers can be part of the League if they meet the requirements of Server Settings.
- Team A picks their own map and Team B picks their own map to be played.
- At a League Match, 4 rounds are played. 2 rounds on Team "A" map and 2 rounds on Team "B" map (Axis and allied side). One round is 20 minutes long.
- Anyone can create a clan. Teams are free to make a member as teamleader and some members as coleaders. Generally, A teamleader's word is final and coleaders help out with administration.
- Training wars - practice clan wars (pcw-s) can be arranged free to prepare for the season / upcoming match. Details of these matches are up to the teams.
- League war arrangement is done in the website. League Rules apply to these matches.
- New players are always welcome.
- It is up to a team if it signs up for a season or not.
- Potential League admins are only selected with specific conditions!
- Clans have to use the League site - their warpages - to plan the details of a match, set / accept planned matches. They have to provide important information in the war comments towards their opponents or to league admins if necessary. (Special match arrangements, or anything related to maps etc.) Once the League war has ended, they are bound to take and upload the screenshots of the final result (the score table) of each round, and upload these screenshots to their war pages. They also have to write the final tickets of each round, and accept the match again. If they don't want to accept and want to protest, they have to use the protest section of the forum!
- The best clan wins the season and will be awarded.

More information in the rules about the procedure of the League.

We play 2 types of clan wars

- pcw - practice clan wars/training wars
- Official League wars
We use CET - Central European Time for clan wars. Practice Clan Wars are usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. In rare cases (fun wars) sometimes on Saturdays / Fridays.

Official League wars are mostly on Sundays.

The starting time of Clan wars is mostly between 20:30-20:50 CET and lasts until 22:30 CET. Sometimes It lasts until 23:00, depending on the clans. Some clans might ask you to be there before the starting time of the war.
Sometimes the starting time is different because it is up to the clan to arrange the date and time, but the times and dates above are the usual standards nowadays.

For more information about clan wars please read the rules.

Admins always announce the information (Sign-up deadline, Start, rules etc.) about any upcoming seasons / events. This information will be in the news, in a forum post and in specific / temporary rules. Teams can sign up at the Sign-in topic made made by admins.

The start of seasons varies cause the time of the event/season depends on a lot of things (amount of teams, or the type of the event), but the ending date of the season can be seen at the last war in the table. If it is 1 group the season can last even 3-4 months.

3.VANILLA MAPS / MEMOMAPS / INFANTRY,TANK,DOGFIGHT ALSO KNOWN AS LADDER MAPS? WHAT ARE THEM?

By "Vanilla maps", the community refers to all original classic BF1942 maps, + un_berlin. Vanilla - Normal.

Important: From the Original Vanilla maps, We don't play The original Berlin, Invasion of the philippines, Omaha beach, Battle of Britain and Coral Sea because these maps are too unbalanced. The original berlin has been replaced by un_berlin.
un_berlin_revised is a special version of un_berlin to decrease camping issues with the map! At the moment, It is not used.

By "Memomaps", the community refers to all custom maps made for Clan wars. Examples are: Tigerpass, Operation Forager, Faid pass.. etc. The term Memomap - comes from its corresponding MemoCUP - was invented by a former league admin and founder - MemoFritz.

By Infantry and Tank maps, the community refers to maps especially made for 1x1,2x2...5x5 or 6x6.. inf / tank fights.

Dogfight (DF) maps are made for 1x1, 2x2..4x4.. dogfights.
Infantry, Tank, and DF maps are also known as "Ladder" maps. Ladder was a small type of competition involving small teams playing 1x1, 2x2...4x4. small wars against each other.

Map examples: Tl_Aberdeen, If_Stalingrad, Df_Zerovscorsair etc. "Tl" stands for Tank ladder, "If" stands for Infantry and "Df" stands for dogfight.

Mapinfo can be found here.

4.REQUIRED HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FOR PLAYERS (TO PLAY IN THE LEAGUE)?

Any decent computer since 2003 should be fine. However, system requirements are still here just in case.

Minimum System Requirements:

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 (SP1), Windows Vista, Windows XP (SP2), Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98, (Windows NT and 95 are not supported)
CPU: 500 MHz Intel® Pentium® or AMD Athlon processor
MEMORY: 128 MB RAM (DDR)
OPTICAL DRIVE: 4x CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive (If you are using physical CDs to install it)
HARDDRIVE: 1.2 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games (additional space required for Windows swap-file and DirectX 8.1 installation)
VIDEO / GRAPHICS CARD: 32 MB video card which supports Transform & Lighting and with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver
SOUND CARD: DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
PERIPHERIALS: Keyboard, Mouse

Joystick works for planes, however it has to be configured.

Recommended System Requirements:

CPU: 800 MHz or faster Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
MEMORY: 256 MB or more RAM
OPTICAL DRIVE: 16x or faster CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive (If you are using physical CDs to install it)
HARDDRIVE 1.2 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games or more for mods, more maps etc.
VIDEO / GRAPHICS CARD: 64 MB or greater video card which supports Transform & Lighting

The game uses older directX versions (DirectX 8.1 and 9), so installing the latest DirectX 9 package from Microsoft is recommended. Even if you use Windows 7, or 8 which use DirectX 10 and 11 respectively, your DirectX 9 still has to be updated!

DirectX 8.1 is a very old DirectX version came with Windows 95 and 98.

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

Or you can also download:

DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

DirectX End-User Runtime Web installer has to be downloaded and executed simply.

Don't install Bing toolbar or any crap / scamware.

DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) has to be downloaded. It is a self-extractor, so you need to select the folder you want it to extract to. We recommend making a folder in your desktop and extract the content there. Then, run SETUP.EXE.

Again don't install bing toolbar or any crap / scamware.

For both cases, Next, next, next and it is done.

Updating to the latest chipset, audio, LAN, wifi video drivers and Directx (see above!) are recommended!

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS - YOU NEED TO RUN EVERY EXECUTABLE AS ADMINISTRATOR IN WINDOWS 7 THAT IS BF1942.exe, TS3.exe, GSC.exe or any related exes. Otherwise these programs will not work well under win 7 or won't work at all.

You can get all necessary software from the downloads block. We play a lot of (new) maps, so expect to download a lot. You must place new maps (RFAs) here:

...\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels

Also, you will need some fixes due to the age of the game.
Instructions (what to do) and information are there in downloads along with a video.

Of course and as written in the rules, The latest RETAIL Battlefield 1942 game (v1.61) is required to play. We don't play the expansions (However, the expansions can be also downloaded, if you want to play it on SiMPLE or any other servers) and the origin BF1942 version doesn't work on our War servers. So you will need to download the retail version of BF1942 in case you have the Origin one.
More info related to the game is detailed in the rules.

All clans use Teamspeak 3 (VOIP program like skype but different one), so you will need to download and learn its basics to be able to use it.
Having a microphone is compulsory in some clans (to be able to speak during clan wars), while others accept listening only in case you don't have one.
Headphones are also recommended because if you play from a laptop you can make echo in the Teamspeak channel which can be frustrating for others.

4.1 AX FIXES? GAMESPY SHUTDOWN? WHAT ARE THESE? MY SERVER BROWSER FREEZES?

Basically, this Topic from AX community covers the most important information related to this theme.

BF-League topic here.

The AX fixes can be also downloaded from downloads block!

4.2 WHAT HAPPENED TO XFIRE, WHAT IS GSC and Steam?

Xfire was a messenger program developed for games, but its services got shut down in June 2015. Screenshot and video taking are the only things which work with the client.

The Community and other bf42 players moved to another alternative, GSC which uses Gametracker website as its database. Imagine GSC as a handicapped xfire, since this program has been not updated for a time, but still it has a semi-working server browser and chat support.

Download GSC here. Download now button in the middle. It is very simple to install it.

We posted the gametracker site here, cause if you have one Gametracker account, you can use (must use it with the email you gave) to log in to GSC. If you don't have any gametracker accounts you can create one using GSC.

To put it short, GSC accounts = gametracker accounts.

If you get this message: "Email is in use already" or "email in use" something like that, that means you have a gametracker account. If you don't remember its login (username and password), you need to use another email address and make a new account.

GSC and Steam profiles of our community and several bf1942 players are here.

BF-League Forum Topic about GSC is here.

Several members of the community expressed their dislike towards GSC.
Most of these members have and use Steam instead.

Detailed information about Steam is here.

It is basically a program similar to Xfire was, but with steam you can also buy games and have several other features. Games bought on Steam are known as Steam Games. To put it in other words, it is an online game webshop "combined with xfire."

League topic about Steam is here.

5.LOCATION / PING / LAG / PUNKBUSTER?

Unfortunately, this game is highly influenced by internet connection.

The terms "ping" and "packet loss" have to be understood. Ping means the time of the data packets travelling between you and the server. It is measured in Milliseconds - ms. Packet loss is ratio measured in %, it means the loss percentage of the packets between you and the server.

If you have too high ping let's suppose above 80-90 ms (usually said "i have 80-90 ping"), Infantry will be an issue for you cause of the improper optimalization of this game. This is an important fact you need to be clear with. Higher pings do not have influence on tank and plane gameplay that much, but there is a slight difference unfortunately. So that basically means lower ping players will have advantage cause their hit registrations will be better. Packet loss will cause lags, sluttering, and can lead to disconnections.

The first reason of high ping and packet loss is the large distance between you and the server.

Clans in the BF-league use German, French, Dutch, and Russian servers. So our competition is European based. (Germany, France, Russia, The Netherlands, so mainly Western Europe)

The second reason is the poor quality of connection or problems with your Internet Service provider.

So better internet connection (fiber and higher bandwidth) solves the problem in most cases.

The third reason can be status of the operating system. If there are lot of processes/programs running or updating, it can increase your ping or can result in ping jumps. Also a corrupted Windows, a slow computer, or a faulty computer can cause issues.

Lagging can occur in case of internet connection problems, computer problems, incorrect settings, problems related to operating system or drivers. It can make gameplay really hard or impossible. Since It is not easy to determine the source of the problem, you should ask League admins or on forum for help if you need.

Punkbuster is anti cheating tool developed by Evenbalance to catch punks. The latest version is compulsory in our community. Punkbuster doesn't work with origin BF1942, so this is the second reason, you need the RETAIL BF1942 version. If you have errors or kick messages related to pb, first thing to do is update it. (Downloads block) The second thing to do is temporarily disable Anti Virus protection and Windows firewall.

So if you aren't good at IT things and you have problems (still), feel free to ask for help on the forum or our League admins / players.

Last but not least, we ask you to visit the League site sometimes while you are actively playing.

That's it for the basics. Sorry if it is too much, but we found to write all of these just in case.
If you forget anything, don't worry, your clan will tell you / remind you and will explain any things which you don't understand for first. The game (and many other old games) got hit several times (Gamespy and xfire..), but we will do our best (with other communities) to keep it alive as lo>ng as possible!

And again, welcome to our community!

And as the final help, we posted almost all acronyms + its meanings that we use.
