What I forgot to say: If there are problems with pb (it kicks you), turn off AV/firewall - guards, any kinds of protection temporarily when you play the game. No virus will attack you when you play bf1942.

3. You manually edit the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and write "94.23.196.155 master.gamespy.com" in it(without quotes) after the last line.
All of them can be applied. HOWEVER, THEY ONLY WORK FOR WINDOWS!

Above there are the game images along with a patch+cracker. If someone doesn't have the CDs or his/her CDs are screwed up. OR there is a new league player and his BF1942 version is the origin one.
ISO files are virtual images. What is a virtual image, well imagine your CDs as files on the computer. Basically you download the ISO files, after that you can use a program like Daemon Tools to Add them to its list and mount the ISOs. Mounting is like when you put your CD/DVD into the CD/DVD drive. It's very easy to use.
Simply download and install Daemon tools lite(you can find it above). AVOID SCAMWARE - Additional programs at setup/installation like toolbars and "speeduppc" etc.. Always select "decline", "don't install" or such.
From the daemon tools installer options: YOU DON'T NEED SPTD, And windows Gadget and the side bar thing or any toolbars so untick all of these you don't need or any similar. Default file extensions can stay. It will install a virtual drive which will use a letter. You will see it in "computer". You can also view its data when a Virtual cd/dvd is mounted.
Installing the game:
So In daemon tools Lite simply select "add" then find the downloaded ISOS, simply browse them and press open/add. They will appear in the list. Then right click on CD 1 and press "mount". The bf42 installer will appear. From here normally it's like with real CD. normally the installer would ask you for a 2nd CD during the installation. You have to mount CD2 then. If you ticked RTR and SWII and Punkbuster to install it will ask you for CD3 and CD4 after as well when you install the expansions and punkbuster. You have to mount CD3 and CD4 also. I don't know about battlecraft exactly - If you need it - and when it asks you to mount the right CD, then mount that CD and everything will be ok. Type in your cd key. Use your bought cd key. If you don't have cd key for bf42 (e.g you are a new player and you have origin version), then ask me on GSC / Facebook etc. or the watch the video above.

All public servers are no key and about these mods it doesn't matter. but,I am not sure if you get duplicated cd key message error if someone uses the same for example on Simple server. that is a question. if you get the message then ask me on GSC / Facebook etc. and we will solve it.

After this it's patching and cracking.(You can find it above) Patch is a software which updates the game. Crack is a software which removes CD/DVD or virtual CD/DVD copy protection.
YOU DON'T NEED 1.6.19 (that is "1.6") This patcher and cracker below will update the game from 1.0 to 1.61b. and cracks it.
This little wonderful program does both. Simply download it and run it as administrator. Then next next next..The directory path must be the GAME MAIN FOLDER, Default one:
C: - Program Files - EA GAMES - Battlefield 1942 but this can differ depending on where you installed your game. (e.g program files/program files(x86), C: / D: etc..)
Make sure the directory path where you installed the game is 120% correct. then next, and update registry key at the end. press ok and its done.
You will have v1.61 battlefield and you don't have to mount at all , so you can unmount the virtual image and the game will work.(The virtual drive is in the bar below the list in daemon tools. simply right click on the virtual drive and unmount)
You can use this patch+cracker with real CDs if you are tired of putting them in all the time..or change CDs all the time if you play an other game.
If you have crashes Run bf1942 as admin and if you still have crashes try WINXPSP3 compatibility.
DirectX is recommended to be updated! Battlefield uses older DirectX 8.1 (very old) but especially DirectX 9. DirectX latest files can solve lots of issues! Either you can use The webinstaller or the 2011 June redist package. The webinstaller has to be executed, next next next and done. AVOID BING TOOLBARS / SET MY HOMEPAGE stuff (untick them). The redist June 2011 package is a self-extractor, so when you open that file, you will be prompted to select a folder. I recommend making a new folder in your desktop, and point the extractor to that. After that run SETUP.EXE. After that, next next next, avoid the nasty stuff again and you should be done!
2.HOW TO INSTALL THIS PUNKBUSTER THAT I PUT HERE
What to do: Create a folder on desktop, download the pb.zip somewhere and extract the content of the zip into the folder you made on desktop, copy the extracted content of the folder and paste it to your Battlefield 1942 - pb folder and overwrite everything.
default folder on Windows: C: - Program Files - EA GAMES - Battlefield 1942 - pb
Don't delete anything, i know this is a complicated method a bit but windows 7 doesnt let you extract directly sometimes..+ some guys i guess would have no idea what to do if I didn't write it down.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PB FOLDER IN BATTLEFIELD 1942 FOLDER, THAT MEANS YOU DIDN'T INSTALL PUNKBUSTER AT ALL - bf42 1.6.19 ("1.6") patch brings original punkbuster v1.0 to BF1942 and CD4 has it as well.(The complete Anthology includes pb v1.0).
YOU CAN CREATE A FOLDER NAMED PB, AND EXTRACT THE CONTENT INTO THIS FOLDER.
This solution is tested and worked so far but I still recommend mounting CD4 and installing pb 1.0 from there and then overwrite it with my zipped content. Or you can use the bf42 1.6 patch as well.
recommended: turn off any Firewall, Antivirus protection (guards, anything) temporarily when you play bf42(no virus will attack you when you play bf42), some AVs tend to mess up with PB. Make sure you run bf1942.exe as admin! You can still ask me if there are any problems with your pb.
3.INSTALLING MAPS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATED TO THEM (ONLY BF1942 RELATED)
One thing, Server owners/the ones who have direct access to them and league admins have to deal with server files. But it's never bad if regular players know about them.
CLIENT MAP FILES - PLAYERS USE THESE TO JOIN A SERVER. SERVER MAP FILES - SERVER OWNERS HAVE TO PUT THESE TO THEIR BF942 SERVERS.
ALL KIND OF MAPS COME WITH .RFA FORMAT.
The client map file has all data about the map for example graphical, sound stuff. The server file of it is basically a stripped file which doesn't contain every data.
Why is this good? because server owners dont have to put gigabytes of maps to the server (it makes the life of the server easier ) and players can see and hear everything of the map even if its server file counterpart is running on the server. But it doesn't work other way around.
If you have the server file of the map accidentally, and you join the server which runs the server file version then you will see Black/purple terrains of the maps, and there will be no sound.
It's also possible to edit the both client/ server file or add extensions to it. (e.g .001 file extension)
DEFAULT folder to put bf42 both client and server maps on Windows:
C: - Program Files - EA GAMES - Battlefield 1942 - Mods - bf1942 - Archives - bf1942 - levels
ATTENTION: IF YOU PUT A FOLDER TO LEVELS, YOUR GAME WILL REFUSE TO START - ALWAYS PUT ONLY THE RFA FILES TO LEVELS.
The above-server files link contains every server maps that has been in use since 2011. Tarawa,Tigerpass,warschau,battle mountain > latest server files inlcluded, all other server files are from the memocup server mappack and past league server packs. I had to make server files for al_jarah and north_sea_docks, ural_foothils and saintsauveur cause i didnt find them. Russlandsturm server file is also fine here. (I had to make server files for the new maps as well)
TARAWA SERVER FILE AND SEVERAL OTHER SERVER MAPS HAVE AN EXTENSION AS WELL, SO PLACE THAT ALSO TO BF1942 - Mods - ... - LEVELS RUNNING ON YOUR SERVER(S).
I used a serverfile converter tool, which maehnaebteheu sent me. I tested it on some maps and it does the job perfectly. it didnt work for 1-2 maps but that meant that the map has invalid/error/bug stuff. (i had a bad hurtgen forest and the 2nd map is tuia's russlandsturm which was bad > camera didnt work when pressing C)
I tested the server files (which I made) on my server but im not sure if those are the correct versions which were used before but i guess yes.
server map names are lower case letters, because linux is case sensitive.
Burma and Island of horror server files are also in. About mod map installation please check FUNMAPS & MODS DOWNLOADS.

I made some categorisation for our team.(new players don't know many of them) Thought I would post it here as well. Loony you can use this if you want for map selection. not all maps ofc.+ ye some are big.
I think all infantry maps are good for 6x6, and to the rest i signed which is good for 6x6 in my opinion. Toujane tunisia if someone is interested, i think its a nice map. hope for 7x7 matches. (8x8 is wonder i guess)

4. INSTALLING INTRUCTIONS / INFORMATION ABOUT GAMESPY FIXES
1.The gamespy Patcher.exe has to be run simply, then click on "patch" and it's done. It writes "94.23.196.155 master.gamespy.com" (without quotes) to your c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and after that the server list will appear.
This is the simpler method. If it has been run already, and you run it again, then it can also delete the added line.
2.The Fixed files are modified(hexedited) game files which connect to s[sk]'s emulated Gamespy server instead of EA's now-dead gamespy server. this contains windescreen support. (you will be able to choose from more resolutions) Readme is included but we are going to write it down here in details what to do with these fixed files, if someone decides to use them:
i. Download the zip and extract it to a folder that you can make on your desktop. Make a backup of the files you are going to overwrite - if something doesn't work or you did something wrong. The files you should make a backup from: -Your bf1942.exe -Xpack1\mod.dll -Xpack2\mod.dll (if you have rtr and swii installed) -mods\bf1942 - here mod.dll, init.con and contentCrc32.con
ii. Make sure you overwrite the needed original files with their CORRESPONDING(corresponding directory) fixed files. So that is: - Overwrite your original BF1942.exe with the Fix BF1942.exe - Go to the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942 folder. - Here, Overwrite the original mod.dll, the init.con and the contentCrc32.con files with the CORRESPONDING fixed files.
In the fix folder you can see this from the directory structure - so for example the original mod.dll of the bf1942 folder has to be overwritten with the fixed mod.dll, with the one which is in the fix bf1942 folder.(NOT WITH THE XPACK1 OR 2 ONE!! - or it will not work) Same has to be done with init.con and contentCrc32.con files. - you also have to do the same with Xpack1 and Xpack2 so, overwrite the original Xpack1 mod.dll with the fix Xpack1 mod.dll, same for Xpack2. Done.
